Your tax-deductible contribution will help Deep Roots of Alabama teach individuals, children and families how to grow food in their own backyards. We work in the five "food deserts" of Huntsville, a food desert by USDA definition is anywhere 500 people or more are within a 2mile walking distance from fresh food.

Law of Attraction in Action
Posted On 04/14/2012 19:17:56 by SouthernStyle
On our run to the store a little while ago, my son went in to get a couple of things while I sat quietly in the car.  Not that I was being quiet, it was quiet IN the car.  Quiet is something that is highly underrated.  When he came out, he was beaming, very proud of himself over the fact that he'd found leftover Easter candy on sale.

Of course, being the supportive mom that I am, I simply had to help him dispose of his find.  I had sampled a few of the almon... Read More

Sicilia, You're Breaking My Heart!

Did any of you happen to catch “The Godfather” on AMC this past week?  I laugh as I type this, because if you spent even a few minutes channel surfing at all, you would have caught one of the three movies in the trilogy, as they were shown over and over and over again.  And what a treat!  This past week was the 40th anniversary of the release of “The Godfather” directed by Francis Ford Coppola.  Funny thing that I just blogged last week about resort properties M... QuickBooks 2012 is out - is it a good upgrade or not?
Posted On 12/03/2011 09:35:38 by weteachqb
QuickBooks 2012 is out, is it a good upgrade?   The short answer is yes, but with my usual cautionary statement of wait until it matures a bit. I don't recommend that you use the R1 release of QuickBooks in any year the R1 release is almost like a second stage beta release as it is pushed out to a lot of users. Although Intuit tests the first release a lot, it is hard to get it into EVERY kind of installation configuration that there is. Often we see that some problem that was ov... Read More

Amazing! Fountain of Youth Found?
Posted On 11/28/2011 20:38:49 by SouthernStyle
This is amazing!!  It takes a lot to impress me, but I'm so excited about this, I feel like I need to share it with everyone I know.  Everyone's searching for the fountain of youth.  We all know it doesn't really exist, but according to all the research, this is pretty close.  Every person I know needs to be using this.  Since so many diseases are linked to free radicals, think of all of the diseases it could potentially prevent.  Watch the video and... Ok let's talk travel insurance.
Posted On 10/09/2011 13:46:23 by windhamentertainment
Ok let's talk travel insurance.  I know it's not an exciting or sexy topic, but it's a very important topic.  When I book vacations for my clients, I always bring up travel insurance.  I have enough real-life stories to share with them that will encourage them to purchase travel protection.  Fortunately for each of my clients, the travel protection thwarted a potential travel nightmare and/ or financial loss.  Examples: A friend whose mother passed away while she was... Double, no Triple check any article you write
Posted On 09/24/2011 04:29:23 by Quilterkay12345
Ahhhh, I just went to a web site.  I was interested in buying something.  BUT, when I saw all the typos I decided that if someone doesn't take time to proofread their web site, or better yet have someone else, with fresh eyes, take a look at it.

Now I'm not perfect.  I mess up commas all the time, I know it I admit it, I try to work on it.

Possessive nouns make me crazy.  ex.  The business owner's had a meeting.  What were they possessin... Read More

Bonnie & the WWll Prisoners of War
Posted On 09/08/2011 22:06:19 by DrBonnie
I believe growing up picking cotton on a dirt-scrabble poor Arkansas farm where my dad had German prisoners-of-war working during WWII saved me through later life's Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) of Debt, Depression, Divorce, Despair, Drinking, Drugs, Diarrhea! I remember the day wearing my sunflower-sprinkled dress of flour sacks. It matched the freckles standing in big blotches next to my waist-length red hair. I took a dipper and bucket of water for the POW's as they sweltered under t... Read More

Freedom Isn't Free
Posted On 07/04/2011 21:08:41 by grapevine
As I listen to the fireworks exploding outside (don't worry, we live in the county and will be outside with our own in a little while), I can't help but think of the bounty and blessings we enjoy as Americans.  Our country isn't perfect, far from it, we could spend days listing it's faults.  BUT, stop and think for a minute about what we DO have.  The freedom to worship as we choose, the freedom to make our own choices, good or bad (as long as we don't hurt others in the process),... Office Supply Junkie
Posted On 06/26/2011 17:48:11 by cmarks
That's right, I don't know about anyone else but I have a problem with office supplies. I can walk into Staple's or Office Depot and stay for hours, meandering through the aisles, touching all the pretty things.
I don't know where this obsession came from or how it started but I know I've got it bad now.
The first aisle I go for is the folders, all the pretty designs, and colors. My new favorite folders are the poly translucent file folders. The 3-ring binders are next. I... Read More
