Do Not Ask Me To Remember
OFFLINE

Do not ask me to remember.

Don't try to make me understand.

Let me rest and know you're with me.

Kiss my cheek and hold my hand.

I'm confused beyond your concept.

I am sad and sick and lost.

All I know is that I need you

To be with me at all cost.

Do not lose your patience with me.

Do not scold or curse or cry.

I can't help the way I'm acting,

Can't be different though I try.

Just remember that I need you,

That the best of me is gone.

Please don't fail to stand beside me,

Love me til my life is done.

Awwww Regina Bless You.  I actually can relate first hand.  My precious mom lives with us now for 10 years with Advanced Alzheimers.  She has not really know me for like 2 years .   I do belive like you that our faces and voices do spark their memory for a few on who we are.  God Bless and thank you for sharing.

Thanks Pam! These words are so true. I spent the last several years of my Grandmother's life watching her slip away into her own little world. I was with her every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day. For the last couple of years of her life she never spoke my name, yet I can't help but think that deep inside she knew that I was part of her world. Just because they don't know us does not mean that we don't know them... and we can still show them we love them.
