Life for me started in Weatherly Cove, a residential neighborhood community in southeast Huntsville. Whether I was outside playing in the yard or walking to school, there was something very inspiring about the land. Weatherly Cove is actually a geographic place name for a smaller cove that runs along the foot of Green Mountain. This cove is one of many that are all linked together throughout the hidden valley of Aldridge Creek. Weatherly Cove gets its name from a Scottish Immigrant named Peter Weatherly who lived in the cove and obtained his first land title in 1833.
The study of local history and its appreciation is a great way to live a more purposeful life. While a lot of the landscape has changed since Peter's first arrival, the harmony of the land continues to bless those of us who take the time to enjoy it.
