Nature, Interiors, logos, the web, our businesses, our clothing - we are surrounded by color. Have you wondered why you like a color? Or maybe why you feel certain ways when around certain colors? While there is a psychology to each color and here is some about the theory of RED.

Red is a strong and powerful color in my opinion. Red can create physical perceptions of SPEED, HEAT and even weight – red can be perceived as heavier in its purest form.

Did you know RED can make you hungry? Paint a red wall in a kitchen or a restaurant but if you want to relax I wouldn’t paint the wall red in that room.

Red is often associated with fire, blood, anger and sex.

Positive traits of RED:

  • Passion
  • Love
  • Excitement
  • Power
  • Attention
  • High energy

Negative traits of RED:

  • Anger
  • Immortality
  • Battle
  • Aggression

Red is a powerful color. It can stimulate your heart rate and breathing. It can make you hungry. It can make you a little moody, or angry.  Red can symbolize the passion and spiciness of a person.

But RED is one of the most visually dominant colors. Think of all the large chain stores that have red as their primary logo color – Target, Coke, Costco, McDonald’s, Campbell’s Soup, Skittles – just to name a few.

My husband told me he did not want any room in our house painted red....soooooo I painted our diningroom Tucany Red!  He was surprised when I did it since he trusted that no room would be red! :) Now he loves my choice.  Benjamine Moore Paints has beautiful red colors. It took me a long time to decide on which one I like the best. In different lighting the red takes on a different personality. Any suggestions where I can get great drapes that would not break my bank!
