OK, so what is on the bucket list for Huntsville??  I grew up here and as they say, you don't appreciate what you have.  Don't get me wrong, I love the area, the beautiful greenery (well not right now, but in the spring time), the majestic view going over the TN River or at Lake Guntersville.  But when friends ask me what there is to do and see here, the things that make us unique, it's sometimes hard to think of.  I know the Rocket Center, but what other things can you think of that would make someone want to visit our beautiful area instead of going somewhere else?  And if you live here and take it for granted, what are the things you're REALLY missing out on if you don't check them out?

I'm Anita Kirkman, and I'm from here too and it is so true that you take for granted what's in your back yard.  I have to HEAR about what's going on in my home town most of the time from people who aren't from here.  The truth is, I've been gone for 30years in and out visiting family of course.  BUT, there is nothing like living here again.  I'm out in Madison where there used to only be cotton fields and cows!!!  Boy has it changed!!!  So I'm very interested in this thread to see what others have discoverd about our wonderful town that is quite different and new to me now.

  • I hear there is a log cabin restaraunt on top of Monte Sano with good food and a beautiful scenery so that sounds like a great start for me.
  • I hear there is place like and old factory that has been changed into a jazz club somewhere over in the governors drive, triana blvd area.  Sounds like a fun night out with some friends and acquaintances I'd love to get to know.
  • Would love to take some line dancing and salsa classes then find some where to show of my new found skills.
  • I want to visit all of the good little-known restarants all over the area. (Seriously I don't need to this, but within reason, it's a bucket list thing)

So I'm stopping but would love to know where some of these things are in the area and some other ideas as well.

Happy Bucket Listing,

Even better, Happy Making it Happen!!

Hi, this is Dellabee, and I am not from here.  Born and raised in California, but moved here mid 2009.  It is kinda funny with us being here only a couple of years, I can get around pretty good.  But I talk to people all the time that don't even know where Toney or Laceys Springs are.

Out west people travel all up and down the West Coast, here people seen to be happy to just go to work, and stay home on the weekends.

I think it is beautiful here. Living just a little out of town, I love seeing the crop rotations, every few months everything looks different.  Every new street I go down, is fresh to my eyes.

I have noticed that people here seem, content with everyday being the same.  It really is nice that somethings are routine, but life has many pleasures, and I for one want to see more.

Take a drive in any direction, especially in the fall, and you will be amazed at the beauty.
