Maple Hill DAR Chapter Hosts Flag Dedication
Huntsville – The Maple Hill Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) hosted a flag dedication ceremony during their September 12 meeting.
The flag dedication featured Athens DAR Chapter member Doris Estes. Estes wore Revolutionary War-era attire and delivered a program to initiate the chapter's flag.
The dedication was done to mark the Maple Hill Chapter adopting its ceremonial flag, which is commonly known as the Betsy Ross flag. The flag features 13 stars, commemorating the original 13 colonies.
Maple Hill is Huntsville's newest chapter, having just received its charter over the summer.
The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution was founded in 1890 to promote patriotism, preserve American history, and support better education for our nation's children.
